Patrick Kent sticks a fish at sunrise with Seattle in the background. Got to love summer here.

Kevney Duggan of the Bend Orvis store finds himself with a once in a lifetimer. Awesome fish Kevney.

An angler fishing the East Passage at dawn with Mount Rainier looming above.

Returning home, a bright and beautiful sea run cutthroat.

Oly Welke casts over a pod of coho at the mouth of a creek just southwest of Seattle.

Mike McCoy watches the sun drop in West Seattle after a long day on the water.

Jean Bruun of Jackson Hole coming tight on her first saltwater cutthroat.

Just a massive SRC from the south Sound. After measuring where it was on the net and comparing pics, this fish was an easy 23 inches.

A sea run cutthroat takes a shot at the our favorite surface fly the Titanic Slider, just an awesome way to pursue these fish.

Nancy Harris throws towards a rising fish. The water was so calm this day, that as the tide flooded, it slowly picked up dry sand and kept it afloat on the water, a rare experience here.

Toothy critters. These resident coho, a by catch at times of the year when fishing for cutthroat will shred flies after a few encounters.

While a boat can make for a great way to fish the Sound, many of us use boats to simply get to beaches otherwise unavailable, beach it, then walk and fish. Still the single best way to learn how to fish Puget Sound.

Dr. Bob Neal fishing. This shot was take from underwater through the mixture of fresh and saltwater giving it a swirled look to it.

Patrick Kent working the calm water near Port Orchard.

Chum salmon fry entering the wide open world of the Sound create regular feeding frenzies with the cutthroat. Often times these take place within 20 feet of the bank making for some exhilirating fly fishing.

Ted McDermott ponders a tough day in the Sound, sometimes not the most forgiving fishery out here.

A close-up look at a bed of Sand Dollars in the south Sound. Typically where you find a good number of these, you will find a healthy beach for SRC's.

Roy Dunbar persists as the weather moves in.

A tough day on the Sound is celebrated with the catching of at least one fish! Photo Greg Thomas

Seeing the native blackmouth in the water is one of the most spectacular blends of color and pattern on any fish in the region.

Roy Dunbar on a perfect winter day on a south Seattle beach. Shot in black and white.

Natalie McCoy watches the summer sun set at a West Seattle beach.

An angler in West Seattle enjoys a pleasant day on the water.

In a feeding frenzy cutthroat will air it out regularly while chasing baitfish, awesome to be sitting there amongst it.

Hunter Chamness laying one out on an absolutely no wind day.

An assortment of abused flies from a busy day catching.

Dylan Rose of EWA with what anyone fly fishing the Sound would call a pig. Yes he is holding it towards the camera but it also measured 31" by 18", do the math. Taken on a Shock n Awe. Photo Ryan Smith

Tom Bois of California in the early am at Eglon, yeah baby.

Hunter Chamness with one of several cutts he latched onto that day.

Larry Kaster paying one out on a lovely early AM on the south Sound.

At times, bait on the beaches can be so thick, they are often times skewered by you fly when stripping it back to you. On these occasions, it is helpful to take a gander at how your fly should really look compared to the real thing.

A driftwood assembled fort overlooking Terry Soos as he fishes across from Vashon Island.

Hunter's fish as it is about to say good bye.
