Kayak Fly Fishing
Puget Sound, Washington

All too often when we embark on the saltwater of Puget Sound we find that the fish are feeding just out of reach of our best casts or the beach we really want to fish is tough to access.  That is when we launch our sea kayaks.  With the constant tide fluctuations moving the bait fish and thus, the sea run cutthroats and salmon around we are able to keep up with them from a kayak.  From a kayak we are able to stealthily glide right up to feeding fish and drop a fly.  Fly fishing from a kayak offers one of the best vantage points to access Puget Sound fish, not to mention the solitude, views from water level, and the occasional visit from a curious harbor seal.  Fly fishing from a kayak eliminates the need for ultra long casts, however, accuracy is still important as is properly reading the water and currents.  Our kayak trips are not for first-time fly anglers due to the multitude of skills required to comfortably and safely pilot a sea kayak while trying to effectively handle a fly rod.  However, our guides will instruct you on the finer points of sea kayak travel and safety along with all of the instruction for successful fly fishing in Puget Sound.

A usual full day on the water will consist of several launches and landings on many of the Puget Sound beaches around the Seattle and Tacoma area.  Fishing time will be split between kayak and beach depending on conditions.  A beachfront lunch will be provided for full day trips and a light snack for half day trips.  All transportation, kayak, and fishing gear are provided.
