Pira
Lodge, Argentina

Pira
Lodge is a new premiere fly-fishing lodge set on the edge of a 3 million
plus acre national preserve marshland in northeastern Argentina. The
Ibera Preserve is the second largest in South America and is home
to countless native mammals and birds as well as the dolpinfish dorado.
The majority of South American fishing lodges are world renowned for
their huge sea-run browns and rainbows. Pira will soon join these
other well-respected lodges by bringing dorado, its primary quarry,
to the top of the list for freshwater game fish.

Dorado is a distant relative of the salmon and has a similar average
size. Dorado in general range from 5 to 45 pounds with the largest
recorded at 70 pounds. Average size at Pira is 10 to 15 with an
occasional 25 to 35 pounder hooked up. Their beautiful golden hues,
size and ferocious attacks on dry flies will leave you counting
the days until you come back.
Party size is limited to 10 fishers. Non-fishing activities are
also available to guests. Packages are based on 7 days of fishing
and 7 nights lodging.
Clothing and equipment checklist -- Summer
We highly recommend an emergency evacuation membership for this trip. It costs well over $100,000 to be air lifted to a safe US hospital from many parts of the world. These services will not be covered by general travel insurance or medical insurance. We use GLOBAL RESCUE.
