Lake
Huites, El Salto and Comodero, Mexico
Mexico Photo Journal

Lake Huites is a beautiful remote mountain lake located on Mexico's
west coast. The port of entry city for commercial air travelers
is Los Mochis, located in the state of
Sinaloa. In 1994, Lake Huites was stocked with a Florida strain
black bass and teh fish have grown at a phenomenal rate! This explosion
of growth is due to the warm year round growing season, the clear
pure mountain waters, the tremendous food base of talapia, threadfin
shad, crawfish and blue gill perch. Also, its remoteness insures
that it will never, receive a great amount of fishing pressure.
Lake
Huites opened to public fishing in October, 1997. Anglers can expect
to catch between 50 and a 100 bass per day, per boat. Size of the
bass will range from 1 pound to 12 pounds, with many larger and
the majority between 3 and 6 pounds.
Anglers
can expect to acheive these numbers with primarliy poppers and larger
streamers, although crawdad and frog patterns have been known to
draw attention as well!
Lake Huites is 22 miles long making sure that there is plenty of
space for all anglers on the lake to enjoy beautiful surroundings
in the presence of few other anglers. There are few places on the
lake where you will not find great numbers of bass, and of course
the guides know exactly where to go.
Lake
Comedero is a beautiful mountain lake nestled inthe Sierra Madre
Mountains about a 100 miles northeast of the seaside resort city
of Mazatlan. Its clear, cool water is swarming with thousands of
hungry black bass which will strike almost any type of fly, popper
or lure nearly all year. Without any doubt, Lake Comedero is the
world's best trophy bass lake with tropies ranging from 15 pounds
to 19 pounds. Daily catches can average between 40 to 80 bass per
day per boat with many of those in the 8-12 pound range. Comedero
is a strictly regulated catch and release fishery.
Clients
stay in a small, quaint lodge which is reflective of the true "Old
Mexico." The camp consists of four houses that contain four
completely private, air conditioned spacious bedrooms, plus ceiling
fans to help circulate the freshly cooled air. Purified bottled
water is furnished in each house and is completely safe to drink.
After a great days of fishing, you are welcomed back at camp with
complimentary margaritas and hors d' oeuvres delivered directly
to your room.
The wonderful menu consists of a variety of foods. Breakfast offers
a wide selection of local fresh fruits, hot biscuits, bacon and
eggs, pancakes, potatoes and of course Mexican coffee and freshly
squeezed orange juice.
Lunch is served shore side and consists of freshly grilled fish
fillets, fruits and potatoes and and all the traditional Mexican
trimmings. Dinner is all about filling you up with incredibly tender
steaks, charcoal grilled, and succulent shrimp prepared the same
way. Dinner is all you can possibly eat too!
Comedero Bass Club offers you bass fishing at its finest. Come enjoy
thrill of the strike, reel screaming runs, traditional Mexican cuisine
and the beauty of Mexico's majestic Sierra Madre Mountains to share
with some great friends.
Lake El Salto is located 50 miles north of Mazatlan. This lake also
swarms with thousands of hungry, aggressive bass willing to samply
whatever type of streamer or topwater popper you decide to use.
You will stay at Club El Salto, which is located on the lakes shore
allowing for quick access from meals to the boat and back again.
Camp consists of 4 buildings with a circular restaurant overlooking
beautiful Lake El Salto. Inside the restaurant is a huge aquarium
filled with trophy bass from the lake, some exceeding 10 pounds.
The camp is also equipped with a brand new satelite TV for evening
entertainment.
All in all, these 3 lakes provide some of the best bass fishing
world-wide! If bass fishing is something you have done for years,
this will be a treat to come and fish to some of the largest fish
around. For those just figuring out that bass make an exciting and
energetic target on the fly rod, this will be an eye opening experience
for you.
