Tampa Bay, Florida

Tampa Bay is the largest open-water estuary in Florida supporting hundreds of species of fish, including some of the most sought after gamefish, Tarpon, Snook, and Redfish. Fly Fishing in the Bay and the surrounding beaches offer some of the incredible sight fishing opportunities. All fly fishing is done from Technical Poling Skiffs designed to run shallow and float in inches of water.
Spring - This is the best time to fish the Tampa Bay Area as most of the species of fish are available, the water is crystal clear, and the fish are hungry. Come spring the first push of migratory Tarpon begin to arrive and the fishing can be second to none. Snook can be found cruising the flats searching for food and making there way for the passes and nearby beaches. Redfish will be on the flats and just as happy to eat a fly as ever. Cobia are often spotted during this season cruising the flats so a rod is always on the ready to make shot.

Summer - Tarpon fishing is in full swing by now and it's not uncommon to see herds of Tarpon throughout the day. The bright sandy beaches make spotting these fish incredibly easy. The Tarpon here range from 50lbs to over 200lbs with the typical size around 100lbs. By summertime there are big snook on the beaches cruising right along the shoreline in the wave trough, this is a great sight fishing opportunity for Snook up to 20lbs!
Fall - As the temperature begins to cool down the fish prepare for winter by feeding heavily. There are still Tarpon during this time of year, but there are select spots to find them. The snook are now making there way to the backcountry and searching the flats and edges for food before they seek out warmer waters. Redfish can be found on the flats along with Seatrout.
Winter - This season is all about Redfish. The bay waters remains incredibly clear during the winter season due to limited runoff from rainfall which makes for great sight fishing. Large schools of Reds can be found this time of year with some of the larger fish ranging 10-12lbs.
