Jungle Tarpon Lodge, Costa Rica



Jungle Tarpon Lodge is nestled in a very special 100 acre paradise that is bound by the Parismina River lagoon and the Caribbean Sea. Turtles nest on our beach, monkeys and birds fill the tree top canopy and fresh and saltwater fish surround our island hideaway near the entrance to the Tortuguerro National Park. 

The main building has 4  rooms at the lodge that  normally hold two double beds but they are large enough that each can hold up to three beds quite comfortably.  They are huge and very pleasant. Each have windows galore, hardwood floors, ceiling fans, and a private bath with hot water.

This is a fishing trip. Your charters begin just after your trip through the Mountain Cloud Forest, your boat trip upriver to the lodge, and a lunch punctuated with local fruits and vegetables. Your charters will end when you say "Let's go back for Happy Hour" or when your arms are too tired!

Following Happy Hour, and an evening meal of healthy local foods, you may choose to continue the action with surfcasting at the rivers' mouth. Others may select a hammock at the rivers edge to watch the birds and monkeys perform.

Each following day will begin with an early morning cup of steaming Costa Rican coffee. The rest of your day you and a companion and your local guide will cast flies to the schools of "Silver Kings" --sometimes in the Caribbean Sea and sometimes in the quiet lagoons of jungle rivers.

Whether offshore in the morning or in-river under the rainforest canopy after lunch, the target will be Tarpon.

Other species like Snook and Quapote and offshore species will spice up your day, but we call ourselves "Jungle Tarpon" for good cause.

Clothing and equipment checklist -- Tropical

We highly recommend an emergency evacuation membership for this trip. It costs well over $100,000 to be air lifted to a safe US hospital from many parts of the world. These services will not be covered by general travel insurance or medical insurance. We use GLOBAL RESCUE.
