Casa Mar Lodge, Costa Rica
Casa Mar Lodge faces Laguna Agua Dulce, a fresh water lagoon where tarpon can often be seen rolling right from the dock. Enjoy the fabulous scenery on our 7 acres of tropical gardens.
Meals at Casa Mar are served family style in the dining room and are home cooked by our local chefs. All meals are a combination of American style as well as local  dishes. After dinner, guests retire to the Tarpon Room to relax and enjoy drinks, fishing stories and the modern convenience of satellite television.
Starting in January and running through May, tarpon can be found in large numbers in the Rio Colorado; and anglers have been known to hook as many as 30 in one day. The average tarpon weighs approximately 85 pounds but can reach upwards of 130 pounds. Tarpon can be found not only in the river but also in the estuary and in the saltwater as well. Landing these large fish will surely be the highlight of your fishing trip.
In December and January, snook ranging in size from 3-12 pounds invade the Rio Colorado. The fish are numerous and it is possible to catch dozens in a single day. For the larger snook, fishing in the surf during most of the year is where the action is.
Although most clients bring their own equipment, Casa Mar is well equipped to supply everyone with top of the line fly rods and reels as well as a pro shop equipped with all the necessities that may have been forgotten or damaged during battle.
 Casa Mar Lodge is located on the northeast Caribbean coast of the Costa Rica in the remote Barra del Colorado National Wildlife Refuge. You'll arrive in San Jose, Costa Rica's capital where a nights lodging is usually required to meet the scheduled departure time for air transfer to the lodge. Casa Mar will arrange your round trip air transfer from San Jose to Barra del Colorado and also has special rates arranged in San Jose with two local hotels for your nights stay.

Clothing and equipment checklist -- Tropical
We highly recommend an emergency evacuation membership for this trip. It costs well over $100,000 to be air lifted to a safe US hospital from many parts of the world. These services will not be covered by general travel insurance or medical insurance. We use GLOBAL RESCUE.
