Recommended Checklist for Clothing and Equipment

Summer: The Short List (local day trips)
Breathable waders
Wading boots or felt bottom sandals
Long sleeve “Quick Dry” type shirt
Lightweight rain jacket, Gore-Tex if possible

Sunscreen
Brimmed hat
Fly rod and reel
Polarized sunglasses with retaining strap
Camera



Summer: The Long List (extended time with multiple day trips)
Breathable waders
Wading boots or felt bottom sandals
Neoprene wading socks (optional)
Long sleeve “Quick Dry” type shirt
1 pair “Quick Dry” type pant
Long underwear, NO COTTON
Fleece pants
Fleece jacket or vest
Shorts
Lightweight rain jacket, Gore-Tex if possible
2 pairs smart wool or similar socks
Pair of warm gloves
Personal clothing for after trip
Sunscreen
Insect repellent -- Ultrathon recommended
Cortisone or anti-itch cream
Sun gloves (optional)
Bandana or similar garment for blocking sun on neck and face (optional)
Brimmed hat
2 fly rods and reels for trout, bass
0-6 weight rods, with sink tip and floating lines
2-3 fly rods and reels for steelhead/salmon
6-8 weight rods, with multi-head, full sinking, sink tip and floating lines
Spey rods and reels in similar line weights
Spare spools
Personal fishing vest or pack
Stripping basket (optional)
Wading staff (optional)
Leaders
Appropriate flies for target species
Wader and fly line repair kit
Camelback water carrier or Nalgene water bottle
Polarized sunglasses with retaining strap
Digital watch with alarm
Electricity voltage converter (international travelers)

This is recommended for single day trips during the summer. For multi-day trips, include additional items for personal use as needed and increase the number as well as these additional items. Again this is just a checklist to help you plan for your trip. Not all items on this list are required for each trip as some trips include many of these items.
