Spey or Two Handed Casting Lessons

Spey casting has become one of the fastest growing aspects of the fly-fishing industry. Originating in Scotland on the River Spey, this casting technique was intended to allow for longer casts and better line management in tight quarters for Atlantic Salmon. At it turns out, this casting style fits the Pacific Northwest quite well for our steelhead and is becoming better known as two or double handed casting.
Fast growth, more anglers picking up fly-fishing and the quick realization that this technique isn't only for steelheading, is making manufacturers come up with new types and variations of two handed rods and lines to match for a multitude of different species.
Now you will find rods from 11 feet to over 17 feet and from 5wt. to 12wt. being used for trout, stripers in saltwater and even tarpon in the Florida Keys.
Whether fishing on the Oregon coast, Washington's O.P., the fabled rivers of British Columbia, Montauk or the Rio Grande in Tierra del Fuego, the spey cast is a wonderful tool to master.
Our staff consists of 4 accomplished spey casters who also run most of our fly fishing schools. We are well represented with the manufacturers as 2 of us are on major rod company pro staffs. Meet the instructors:
