Capt. Terrence Duffield aka Coach Duff
Professional Fly Captain
I was born and raised in Seattle, Washington. A lifelong steelhead bum and Northwest fly-fishing veteran, the Hawaiian bonefish has taken my heart by storm and nearly stolen my soul, but not quite.
I spent 7 years in the elite 2nd Force Recon Company in the United States Marine Corps and am a very proud veteran of both Desert Shield/Storm and Somalia where I led a 6 man Spec Ops team into combat and brought home everyone unscratched.
With a degree in Sports Science, a love of helping kids and a background of playing football, I was bit by the coaching bug and was all in. I began to work my way up the ladder in the football coaching ranks starting in high school, moving to junior college and culminating in a trip to the Sugar Bowl in 2007 with the 12-0 University of Hawaii Warriors, hence the nickname that sticks today “Coach”.
I am an FFF certified casting instructor (only one in Hawaii), a USCG 25 ton Captain’s license holder (#1157670) and have 30 years in this thing we call fly fishing. I live in Kailua, Oahu with my best friend and lovely wife Stephanie (New York trained Pilates instructor), my sons Dalton (age 12), Deuce (age 3) and my daughter Darvin (age 5) who humbles me daily.
